1. Design, Color, and Overall Look
If I talk about the overall design of the Asolo Drifter GV hiking boots, they look very smart with a solid build. They come in two different colors Graphite/gunmetal and Major Brown.
Moreover, the upper is made with suede leather, which gives them a cool look. Rubber outsoles and toe caps make them the perfect hiking boots. The boots are available in a variety of sizes to fit a variety of feet.
2. Midsoles and Outsoles
The outsoles are made of Vibram rubber; however, the midsoles are molded and have EVA (ethylene-vinyl acetate). EVA is lightweight, flexible, and absorbs shock, so the user feels less impact on the feet. The Vibram rubber outsole provided a firm grip and traction while walking on wet and slippery tracks and kept the dirt and mud away. They provide excellent resistance and are best for snowshoeing.
4. Great Ankle Support and Shock Absorption
The shock-absorbing power of these boots is excellent because of their curved and cushioned midsoles. The ankle support is excellent. The padded ankle cuffs and tongue for extra cushioning kept me safe during sudden twists and turns. They provide excellent support and comfort for your feet and are suitable for various conditions.
5. Break in Time
I was concerned before trying Asolo Drifter GV hiking boots because of their stern look. When I first tried them, they felt unreal because I never expected them to be this comfortable from the inside.
Asolo Drifter bears fewer break-ins compared to Fugitive.
I like the shape and size of the toe box and the forefoot. They are well-designed to avoid any pinching. I have not experienced foot pain or blister since my first hiking session with them.
6. Water Resistance and Breathability
The upper of the boots is made of Gore-Tex waterproof and breathable membranes. The boot let my feet breathe properly and kept them dry while crossing mud puddles and streams.
However, I tried them on in heavy rain to test the water resistance, and my feet remained dry and comfortable.
7. Best for the Summer Season
I like to hike in the spring and summer seasons.
Therefore, I sought boots to prevent my feet from getting too hot and sweaty on hot days. The nylon lining proved a lifesaving factor. They quickly absorbed the excess moisture away from my feet, and I never felt sweaty in them for the slightest moment.
8. Lacing System, Height, and Weight
They weigh around 2 lbs. 11 oz. They look rigged but lightweight, which is a significant plus. You can carry them around daily. I like the over-the-ankle height
However, I found the lacing system could have been more straightforward. It took me a couple of tries to be a pro at it, but once I figured out the right way to do it, it provided excellent support to my ankle and helped to keep them secure on my feet.
9. Resolable and Durable
For the past year, I have been using these boots repeatedly, and they proved to be durable during several weeks-long trips and backpacking. High-tenacity Nylon provides super elasticity and abrasion resistance.
The top layer of suede leather adds extra protection and enhances the overall look of the boots. The Vibram rubber outsoles and rubber toe cap play an essential role in durability by keeping mud and dirt away. They are reusable and can be resold with custom-made insoles.
Final Verdict
Asolo Drifter GV hiking boots check all my boxes for the perfect hiking boots, from design to comfort and durability. They’re lightweight and comfortable, and their water resistance is excellent.
They have excellent grip, and dirt and mud do not easily stick to them. They will be my go-to hiking boots during my upcoming hiking adventures.
