Most Salomon hiking boots are robust for traction and foot comfort, and this Salomon Discovery GTX is no exception. Salomon Discovery hiking boot has provided me fantastic comfort during hiking, and the best manufacturing design with quality material further added to its performance in every way.
I bought this boot for casual hiking, but the durable and high-quality material choice, counter grip outsole, and stability have welcomed me to wear it for backpacking and many other technical hikes. So today, I shall review this boot to tell you what features I liked the most in the Salomon Discovery GTX hiking boot.
My Verdict
My final verdict about this Salomon Discovery is that I’m pretty satisfied with the performance and traction at a low-cost price. I hiked 90+ miles wearing this boot, and the traction, toe protection, cozy and warm interior, and flexibility efficiently kept the strain off my feet.
I have mainly found its polyester lining, durable and thickset rubber outsole, and over-the-ankle design excellent as a hiking boot. So, if you are looking for footwear with plenty of comforting and gripping factors, Salomon Discover is less likely to let you down.

Features I Tested
Below is the quick round of top features I tested and found significant in the Salomon Discovery GTX hiking boot.
1. Uppers and Material Choice
Salomon Discovery features resilient and flexible leather and textile uppers that fit snugly on my feet. I hike without strain, and the flexibility helped in the adaptive fit. Overall, the boot’s uppers have been stitched carefully, and the high-quality manufacturing saved this boot from wear and tear no matter where I hiked.
2. Outsole, Traction, and Gripping
Due to this 2d Chassis outsole, I have noticed unshakable traction. Salmon Discover has an improved grip, allowing me to have firm and stable foot placement even on slippery terrain.
3. Weight and Stability
While being a stable and best traction hiking boot, I don’t find this boot heavier on my feet. It only weighs 0.01 Ounces which is relatively light compared to other Salomon variants. That is the reason why hiking all day long becomes reliable and free from foot strain. The weight is light, but Salomon Discovery has provided me with the utmost grip on abrasive terrain and mountain hiking without a single doubt.
4. Comfort and Performance
For softness and comfort, its 2D cushioning and stability are excellent. Therefore, I quickly moved my feet in all directions, plus the insoles and cushioning ensured the wraparound feeling invited coziness in the boot. Talking about comfort, the OrthoLite sockliner, upper heel cap, and toe cap are other factors that boost protection and comfort for feet. For me, this boot is excellent for walking, hiking, and other outdoor activities as far as comfort is concerned.
However, I did notice the squeaky sound while walking, which makes it slightly less preferable. But this was not a big problem for me because I wore this boot on hiking and trails where I certainly had to come across dry leaves, rocks, and other such things anyways.
5. Price and Affordability
I was surprised to see the affordability of this hiking boot. It only cost me $91.06. Unlike many other hiking boots, this price is pretty budget-friendly for me. The best part was its low-cost price tag has nothing to do with its durability or high-quality material selection. So, I got a premium hiking experience without spending much.
